It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since we first introduced San Joaquin Woman Magazine to the community. Since then, we have heard from so many women eager to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences with us. With each new edition, we have introduced you to outstanding women in our area whose contributions make a big difference in all of our lives. Without these women, there would be no San Joaquin Woman Magazine. So we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of the women of the San Joaquin Valley. Thank you for all you do to make our community a better place to live, work and raise our families.

As we move into our sophomore year at San Joaquin Woman Magazine, Mother’s Day is knocking on our doors, and in celebration, we conducted a search of the county for mother & daughter look-alikes. We had over 100 entries that led to a grueling selection process. In the end, however, we settled on eight pairs that we felt not only bore an uncanny resemblance to each other, but also embodied the vast diversity of women that we have here in San Joaquin County.

Caring for others, sacrifice and hard work are often characteristics used to describe a mother. They can also be used to describe the women of the Child Abuse Prevention Council and Hospice of San Joaquin County, two non-profit organizations dedicated to helping those who are hurting, and improving their quality of life.

With summer just around the corner, we bring you Summertime Blues and Greens, a fun, fashionable look at the season’s coolest colors. Savory summer salads will tempt your taste buds, and you can get swimsuit-ready with Curves for Women. And much more…

So as we reach our one-year anniversary of celebrating the women of our community, we hope you will continue to give your feedback, ideas, thoughts and stories. We can’t do it without you!
